EAA - Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What is the EAA?
The EAA stands for Experimental Aircraft Association. It was founded in 1953 by current Chairman of the Board Paul H. Poberezny. The initial goal of the organization was to build experimental aircraft. This still remains the main stream idea behind the EAA. Through the decades, the organization expanded its mission to include antiques, classics, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters and contemporary manufactured aircraft. How difficult is it to build an airplane?
That depends a lot on the plane you wish to build. Many airplane kits are available which cater to all types of purposes. A number of plans are also available for the more advanced builder. In general, you need an average ability to handle tools and a very good ability to precisely follow instructions.
